President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Abia State governor and senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, on yesterday’s celebration of his 66th birthday.
The President has also congratulated his Senior Special Assistant on Digital Engagement, Strategy and New Media, Mr. Otega Ogra, on his election into the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA).
Ogra was elected at the organisation’s annual general meeting (AGM) held during the Global Marketing Week Conference in Stockholm, Sweden, becoming the only representative from West Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa on the committee.
Congratulating Kalu on his 66th birthday, President Tinubu applauded the former governor’s enduring contributions to national development and service to the country
In a statement yesterday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Kalu as a committed public servant whose impact spans governance, legislation, and the private sector.
President Tinubu noted that Kalu, who governed Abia State from 1999 to 2007, demonstrated a sustained commitment to the development of the state and the well-being of its people during his tenure.
He also highlighted the Senator’s role in the National Assembly, where he previously served as Chief Whip and currently chairs the Senate Committee on the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC), one of the regional intervention agencies established by the administration to fast-track development across the geopolitical zones.
The President said Kalu’s leadership at the commission aligns with the broader objective of promoting inclusive growth and addressing developmental gaps in the Southeast region.
“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s vision, resilience, industry and service to the nation and commitment to the progress of Abia are noteworthy,” President Tinubu said.
He also acknowledged Kalu’s contributions to the economy as Chairman of SLOK Holding, describing him as a media entrepreneur whose investments continue to create opportunities and drive economic activity.
President Tinubu wished the former governor long life, greater strength and increased wisdom as he continues to serve the nation.
In another statement by Onanuga, the President described Ogra’s election as a major milestone for Nigeria’s growing influence in global communications and marketing, noting that it reflects the depth of Nigerian expertise on the global stage.
According to him, Ogra’s election underscores the increasing contribution of a new generation of Nigerian professionals to global industry standards.
“Otega’s election reflects the growing recognition of Nigerian expertise and affirms our capacity to contribute meaningfully to the frameworks shaping global markets,” President Tinubu said.
Ogra secured his position on the platform of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria, where he currently serves as Vice President, highlighting the role of Nigeria’s organised advertising and marketing industry in securing global representation.
The President noted that the WFA, which represents over 150 multinational and Fortune 500 companies across more than 60 countries, plays a pivotal role in shaping global policies on responsible advertising, media transparency, sustainability, and digital innovation.
He said Ogra’s election presents a personal achievement and a strategic opportunity for Nigeria and the African continent to participate more actively in global conversations on brand trust, platform accountability, and the future of communications.

President Tinubu praised Ogra for his contributions to Nigeria’s marketing and communications ecosystem, pointing to his experience across banking, manufacturing, and the public sector.
He added that the feat aligns with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on advancing the creative economy, strengthening digital governance, and positioning Nigeria as a hub for innovation and enterprise.
Other newly elected members of the WFA Executive Committee include Josh Faulks and Simon Michaelides, while existing leadership led by David Wheldon and Philip Myers will continue in their roles.
The President said the achievement reinforces Nigeria’s growing relevance in global economic and digital ecosystems, expressing confidence that Ogra will leverage the position to further advance the country’s interests.
