President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated a distinguished naval officer and marine engineering expert, Rear Admiral Harry Olufemi Arogundade (retd), on his 70th birthday, praising his lifetime of service, discipline and professional excellence.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President described Arogundade’s life journey as “remarkable,” marked by purpose and outstanding achievement.

Tinubu recalled the retired admiral’s formative years at the Nigerian Military School and subsequent training both in Nigeria and abroad, noting that these experiences laid the foundation for a career defined by courage, precision and commitment to national service.

“From his early days at the Nigerian Military School to his training both at home and abroad, Rear Admiral Harry Arogundade built a legacy of service to Nigeria defined by courage, precision, and an unwavering commitment to excellence,” the President said.

He commended Arogundade’s illustrious military career, highlighting his intellectual depth and leadership across strategic roles in the Armed Forces.

According to the President, the retired officer’s contributions reflected not only professional brilliance but also a deep sense of duty to nation-building.

Tinubu particularly noted Arogundade’s leadership roles as Chief Delegate of the NNS Lana Refit Team, Training Commander at the Naval Engineering College, Director of Projects at Naval Headquarters, Flag Officer Commanding Naval Logistics Command, and Director of Plans at Defence Headquarters.

He said these positions were instrumental in strengthening the operational capacity of the Nigerian Navy and enhancing the Armed Forces’ role in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

“Your leadership roles… helped reposition the Nigerian Armed Forces, especially the Navy, as a critical asset in the protection of the nation’s sovereignty,” Tinubu stated.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, the President also acknowledged Arogundade’s personal values, describing him as a devoted family man whose influence continues to guide those around him.

“As you mark this significant milestone, you can reflect with pride on the legacy you have built and the countless lives you have impacted. May the years ahead bring you continued fulfilment, good health, and well-deserved peace,” the President added.
