A stalwart of All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Dr Akinola Awodeyi-Akinsehinwa, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for signing the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2026.

He  said the action reinforces trust and credibility in the democratic process.

The bill, which amends key provisions of 2022, was passed by National Assembly on Tuesday, following extensive debates and consultations.

Awodeyi-Akinsehinwa, said the President’s assent shows commitment to transparent, fair, and inclusive elections.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja, the APC leader said the amendment addresses gaps in electoral jurisprudence and provides a stronger legal framework for conducting credible polls, particularly 2027 general elections.

“Tinubu has shown leadership by signing this electoral reform bill into law”

“This restores faith in our electoral system, ensures greater accountability, and safeguards integrity of future polls. It is a victory for democracy and Nigerians.”

He urged stakeholders, including political parties, civil society, and INEC to embrace the provisions and collaborate towards their implementation.

The Act introduces reforms to enhance transparency, tackling technical challenges in result transmission, and promote electoral efficiency amid preparations for 2027 elections.

Dr Awodeyi-Akinsehinwa called on APC members and supporters across Ondo State and the nation to rally behind President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasising that sustained reforms like this would consolidate democratic gains and foster national progress.
