...describes former First Lady as ‘Amazon’ and ‘woman for all seasons’

...commends her foundation’s support for women, children

From Bolaji Ogundele, Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, on her 55th birthday, describing her as a courageous and principled woman who has consistently stood by her values and ideals.

In a message personally signed on February 23, 2026, the President joined family and friends in celebrating the milestone, noting that 55 represents a significant moment in her life.

“I join the family and friends of Hajiya Aisha Buhari to congratulate her on her 55th birthday. Fifty-five is a significant milestone, and I celebrate with the former First Lady on this occasion,” Tinubu said.

The President extolled Mrs Buhari’s strength of character and independence of mind, portraying her as a steadfast personality in the nation’s public life.

“Hajiya Buhari is an Amazon, a courageous and principled woman. She is not afraid to stand alone on matters bordering on her values and ideals. She is as ever certain as the North Star; a woman for all seasons,” he stated.

Tinubu also acknowledged the humanitarian and advocacy efforts of the former First Lady, particularly through her pet project, the Aisha Buhari Foundation.

According to him, the foundation has played a significant role in upholding the rights of women and children and in providing relief to vulnerable families across the country.

“Through her foundation, the Aisha Buhari Foundation, she has upheld the rights of women and children and provided succour to many families,” the President noted.

He further described Mrs Buhari as “a voice for the unheard and the forgotten,” commending her for championing causes that promote family values and protect human dignity.

Expressing appreciation for her contributions to national development, Tinubu thanked the former First Lady for her service to the country and praised what he termed her resilience and discipline over the years.

“I thank Hajiya Buhari for her contributions to our nation. And I commend her resilience and discipline,” he said.

The President concluded his message with prayers for her continued well-being.

“I wish her a happy 55th birthday, and I pray that God Almighty continue to keep her and her family in good health,” he added.

Hajiya Aisha Buhari served as First Lady of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023 and has remained active in humanitarian and social advocacy initiatives since leaving office.
