• Commends monarch's blend of tradition, modern governance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has eulogised the Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, on the occasion of his 50th birthday, praising his leadership qualities and contributions to community development.

The Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, also joined other eminent Nigerians to congratulate the monarch.

In a statement issued on Friday by Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President congratulated the monarch, the Council of Chiefs, the Lagos State Traditional Council, and the people of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom on the milestone.

Tinubu commended Oba Elegushi for his sustained commitment to improving the welfare of his people through interventions in education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship since ascending the throne 16 years ago.

The President noted that the monarch has demonstrated vision, wisdom, and courage in balancing traditional values with modern governance, particularly through the adoption of technology and global best practices to drive development in areas such as agriculture and skills acquisition.

He also recalled the monarch's service under his administration in Lagos State, where Oba Elegushi served as Special Assistant between 2003 and 2007, and later as Senior Special Assistant from 2007 to 2010.

According to Tinubu, the royal father had, even in public office, exhibited empathy and compassion in dealing with people, qualities he said have continued to define his reign.

“Oba Elegushi has demonstrated vision, grace, wisdom and courage in keeping a balance between tradition and modernity,” the President said.

“I am not surprised about your leadership and the gains your reign has produced for the people because, as my Special Assistant and Senior Special Assistant during my tenure as Governor of Lagos State, you always evinced a deep sense of empathy and compassion for people,” he added.

Tinubu prayed for a longer life, good health, and continued wisdom for the monarch in his service to the people of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Lagos State, and Nigeria at large.

Lagos deputy speaker Meranda felicitates Oba Elegushi

Meranda, in a statement on her Instagram page on Friday, congratulated the monarch for his robust leadership.

The deputy speaker said, "On behalf of the good people of Apapa Constituency I, I extend my warmest congratulations to His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, on the joyous occasion of his 50th birthday celebration.

"Kabiyesi, your reign continues to exemplify cultural pride and a steadfast commitment to the growth and development of your people."

She praised the monarch's love for tradition, adding that he is an inspiration to many across the state.

"Your ability to preserve tradition while embracing progress stands as a beacon of inspiration across Lagos State and beyond.

She said: "As you mark another remarkable year, it is my prayer that Almighty God grants you continued wisdom, strength, and excellent health to lead with even greater impact.

"May your kingdom flourish in peace, prosperity, and unity under your distinguished leadership.

“Congratulations, Your Royal Majesty, and happy birthday."
