President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday held separate meetings with former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and former Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Both visits, conducted behind closed doors, stirred interest within political circles, coming days after the ruling party’s 4th Elective National Convention.

Ganduje, clad in a green babanriga, was sighted leaving the State House at about 4:15 p.m., while Badaru exited roughly 15 minutes later at 4:30 p.m.

The two political heavyweights declined to comment when approached by journalists, offering no details on the purpose of their engagements with the President.

Ganduje served as APC National Chairman from August 2023 until his resignation in July 2025.

He was subsequently succeeded by Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who emerged as the party’s substantive chairman at the convention held on March 27, 2026, at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Before his tenure as party chairman, Ganduje was the Governor of Kano State from 2015 to 2023.

Similarly, Badaru, who governed Jigawa State between 2015 and 2023, recently stepped down as Minister of Defence in Tinubu’s cabinet.

His meeting with the President further deepens speculation about his possible re-engagement in national assignments.

The staggered departure of both men from the Villa suggests the meetings were separate consultations rather than a joint audience with the President.

It's believed that the visits may not be unconnected with ongoing consultations within the APC following the recent convention, as well as broader political realignments ahead of future engagements.
