President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governors of the 19 states in the North, and other eminent Nigerians have extended condolences to the Special Adviser to the President on Livestock Development, Prof. Attahiru Jega, over the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega.
Hajia Hadiza passed on yesterday and was buried according to Islamic rites.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented the President at the janazah (Islamic funeral rites) yesterday at the National Mosque in Abuja, conveyed the President’s heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
President Tinubu described the late Hajiya Hadiza as a woman of uncommon grace and strength, noting that she played a pivotal role as a steady support system to her husband throughout his years of public service, including his tenure as chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

A statement in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the President also applauded her contributions to education and community development, highlighting her quiet but impactful influence in advancing social causes.
In a condolence message personally addressed to Professor Jega, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the loss.
“Dear Professor Jega, it is with a heavy heart that I receive the news of the passing of your beloved wife of over 40 years. Hajiya was an exceptional woman.
“I mourn this painful loss with you and your family and pray that God Almighty grant her Aljannatul Firdaus. I stand with you and your family at this difficult time,” the President said.
Also, northern governors have commiserated with Prof. Jega over his wife’s demise.
The Chairman of the Northern States’ Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the 19 northern governors to the former INEC chairman.
In a condolence message, Governor Yahaya described the death of Hajiya Hadiza as a painful and profound loss not only to the Jega family but also to all those who were touched by her life of grace, humility and devotion to family values.
The governor noted that her death has created a deep vacuum in the lives of her loved ones.

He urged the bereaved family to take solace in the exemplary life she lived and the enduring legacy of kindness, faith and compassion she leaves behind.
A statement by the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House
in Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli,. Said the NSGF chairman extended his deepest sympathies to Prof. Jega, the children, and the entire extended Jega family, praying Almighty Allah to grant them the fortitude and patience to bear the irreparable loss.
Governor Yahaya also prayed Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, accept her good deeds as acts of ibadah, and reward her with Aljannat Firdaus.

Also, erstwhile Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani expressed sadness over the passing of the wife of the former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega.
In a condolence message, Sani described Hajia Jega’s death as a great loss, extending his sympathies to Professor Jega and his family during this difficult time.
He prayed Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannatul Firdaus and give the bereaved family the strength to bear the loss.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” he said, offering prayers for the repose of her soul.
The condolence message adds to the outpouring of tributes from associates and well-wishers mourning the loss of the late matriarch.
