Following the directive by Bola Ahmed Tinubu mandating political appointees seeking elective offices in 2027 to resign by March 31, 2026, the Senior Special Assistant on Citizenship and Leadership, Nasir Bala Aminu, has stepped down from his position.
Aminu, popularly known as Ja’oji, is contesting for the House of Representatives seat representing Tarauni Constituency.
The presidential directive affects ministers, ministers of state, special advisers, senior special assistants, and other political appointees intending to participate in the 2027 elections.
In his resignation letter, Aminu expressed appreciation to the president for the opportunity to serve, pledging continued commitment to national service whenever called upon.
He commended the administration’s focus on youth development, describing it as a key pillar that has encouraged young Nigerians.
Aminu also acknowledged the Renewed Hope Initiative, stating that many of the administration’s policies and programmes would yield greater impact if the president is re-elected.
Meanwhile, his supporters welcomed the development, describing his resignation as a demonstration of seriousness and commitment to his political ambition, while expressing confidence in his prospects in Kano State.
