A former two-term member of the House of Representatives, Sam Onuigbo, has declared that the performance of President Bola Tinubu will secure him a second term in office.

The former lawmaker cited the president’s far-reaching achievements under the current administration as a reason why he will be re-elected.

Onuigbo made the remarks during the launch of the City Boys Movement (CBM) in Abia State, alongside the unveiling of Local Government Coordinators and Assistant Coordinators across the six local government councils in Abia Central Senatorial District.

He stated that the multi-faceted achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration have delivered notable milestones, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the unification of the foreign exchange rate, and increased revenue allocations to governors across the 36 states of the federation.

Onuigbo, who represented Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the Eighth and Ninth National Assembly, said President Tinubu’s courageous implementation of socio-economic reforms “cannot be matched by any other leader in Nigeria’s history.”

While commending the President’s fiscal initiatives that have left more money in the hands of state governors, Onuigbo, a known advocate for local government autonomy, urged governors to ensure that the increased revenues are translated into visible development projects at the grassroots level.

He stressed that citizens in rural communities must feel the direct impact of governance.

Onuigbo also noted that the leadership of the City Boys Movement has embraced President Tinubu’s broad vision, praising the group for building a structured platform aimed at engaging and empowering youths in Abia State.

Speaking at the event, the State Director of CBM, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, said the inauguration went beyond a ceremonial gathering, describing it as a symbol of renewed patriotism, unity, and a shared vision for a prosperous Nigeria.

According to Igbokwe, the City Boys Movement remains a grassroots-driven initiative focused on mobilising, empowering, and uniting young Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He charged the newly inaugurated executives to regard their appointments as a call to service rather than mere titles, urging them to build inclusive structures across their respective local governments and wards while actively engaging their communities to ensure that every voice is heard.

The State Director further appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, and residents of Abia State to support the movement, noting that collective effort is essential for meaningful development and national progress.

Earlier, the Zonal Coordinator, Chief Uzo Ihuka, described a “City Boy” as any young man or woman who has risen through hard work to achieve success, adding that the movement represents hope for a brighter future.

The event attracted party leaders and stakeholders, including APC chairmen from Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South LGAs, the CBM State Patron, Hon. Chinedum Orji, the State Coordinator, LGA Coordinators, and other executives.

It ended with renewed commitment among members, as the movement continues to expand its presence across Abia State.
