...urges Nigerians to support government in tackling insecurity
Civil Society Organisations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI) has said the Federal Government’s ongoing re-architecturing of Nigeria’s security framework under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is beginning to produce positive results across the country.
The group attributed the progress to President Tinubu’s proactive security approach, the supervisory role of the National Security Adviser, and stronger collaboration among security agencies, civil society organisations (CSOs) and community-based organisations (CBOs).

In a statement signed by its Director General, Kunle Yusuff, CSCHEI said the renewed strategy has contributed to the dismantling of separatist cells, disruption of criminal networks, and gradual restoration of peace in several local communities.
According to the organisation, the partnership between security agencies and the National Leadership Council of CSOs and CBOs in Nigeria has become critical in promoting stability through grassroots intelligence gathering and community engagement.
“Civil Society Organisations and Community-Based Organisations play a vital role in local communities, providing grassroots networks, community trust, and expertise that support government efforts to address insecurity,” the statement said.
CSCHEI also linked recent international security concerns, including the United States travel advisory on Nigeria, to the broader need for sustained global cooperation in combating security threats.
The group said while the advisory underscores existing challenges, it also highlights the importance of collaborative efforts among local and international stakeholders to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.

It pledged continued support for security agencies through credible information sharing, intelligence gathering and operational assistance aimed at ensuring sustainable peace and national development.
Drawing from its network across 460 local government areas in 26 states, CSCHEI said evidence from communities suggests that pragmatic measures adopted by security agencies are gradually making impact at the grassroots.
The organisation particularly commended the efforts of the Department of State Security for its interventions in local government councils, describing such actions as significant in improving local security responses.
CSCHEI, however, stressed that government alone cannot shoulder the burden of resolving insecurity, calling on citizens and other stakeholders to actively support authorities at all levels.
“We take this opportunity to appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to support the Government at all levels in addressing the security challenges. Government alone cannot solve the whole problem single-handedly; it is a collective responsibility,” the statement added.
