The Lagos State Government has deployed 500 additional personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to strategic routes ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed this during a press briefing on preparations for the visit.

He said the deployment was aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow, enhanced security and minimal disruption to residents.

Omotoso explained that the move formed part of coordinated efforts between federal and state agencies to guarantee seamless logistics and movement during the President’s visit.

“We are working closely with federal and state agencies to ensure that all arrangements for the President’s visit are seamless, secure and befitting of the occasion.

“Security, logistics and traffic management plans are being carefully coordinated to minimise disruptions to daily activities while ensuring the safety and comfort of all participants,” he said.

General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said the agency had concluded plans to position the additional officers across major highways and key routes linked to the President’s itinerary.

According to him, the officers will regulate vehicular movement and ease congestion along affected corridors throughout the visit.

He added that the deployment is part of a broader inter-agency traffic management strategy to ensure smooth conduct of the commissioning activities and reduce inconvenience to commuters.
