China, Russia and the United States dominate the list of countries with the largest naval fleets globally, according to the latest 2026 data released by Global Firepower.

The ranking, based on the total number of naval assets including submarines, aircraft carriers, destroyers, and patrol vessels, highlights the growing importance of maritime strength in global military strategy.

Here are the top 10 countries with the largest naval fleets in the world:

1. China — 841 vessels

China maintains the largest naval fleet globally, reflecting its aggressive expansion and modernization drive.

2. Russia — 747 vessels

Russia follows with a vast fleet, including a strong submarine component and strategic naval assets.

3. United States — 465 vessels

The United States ranks third by size but remains the most technologically advanced naval power.

4. India — 343 vessels

India continues to expand its navy as part of its regional and global security ambitions.

5. Indonesia — 338 vessels

Indonesia’s fleet is driven by its need to secure one of the world’s largest archipelagic territories.
