A trader, Osifo Stanley, yesterday joined the presidential race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The 50-year old trader, who hails from Edo State, flagged off his campaign, themed: “Metamorphosis 2027,” with a promise to rescue the nation from its current economic situation through a strategic focus on security and fiscal discipline.

Stanley described himself as a patriotic Nigerian driven by a “passion for making Nigeria the greatest nation globally.”

The ruling party had endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election last year by given him the right of first refusal.

But Stanley, who vowed to contest, told reporters in Abuja that his aspiration is built on a foundation of integrity and a deep understanding of global economic resuscitations.

Stanley said no sector can thrive without a stable economic base and a secured environment.

He promised a two-pronged approach to solving Nigeria’s challenges.

The aspirant said: “We are aware that economy encapsulates all human activities. There is no sphere of human existence that is devoid of economic element.

“Similarly, every society seeks peaceful and harmonious living. A secured society is the foundation for sound economic structuring.”

Stanley assured that his administration would prioritize interventions to “ease the current tense, fragile and torturous situation many Nigerians face.”

He unveiled a roadmap for national development, ranging from agriculture and mines to health and education, and highlighted a plan to decentralize the power sector and audit major industrial assets like the Ajaokuta Steel factory.

Stanlet said: “The purchasing power of our currency will be strengthened by policies and structures that we will push forth. Poverty levels will be diminished. We will deal a devastating blow to hunger with functional macro and micro undertakings.”

He also promised to implement the National Health Act and deploy grants from international bodies like UNICEF and USAID to tackle contagious diseases.

He added: “We will work on our political system to metamorphose into acceptable, fair, free and democratic dominated enterprise.

“The voice and will of the people of Nigeria must prevail in every political, governance and leadership consideration.”

On security, Stanley said: “We shall engage in extensive dialogue with stakeholders in different regions to ensure stability... We shall enhance intelligence gathering using human and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a critical aspect of national security.

“I have strong conviction the time has come for our great nation to metamorphose. I seek support from all political, economic, social and religious bodies to support and vote Osifo Stanley as Flagbearer and thereafter as President in 2027.”
