Troops arrest suspected car thieves, recover stolen truck

Troops of the 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army Headquarters, Ohafia, deployed to 144 Battalion in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, operating under,Operation Eastern Sanity , have arrested three suspected car thieves.

The troops also recovered a Mack articulated truck from the suspects during a routine night patrol.

The Army Public Relations Officer (APRO), 14 Brigade Headquarters, Captain Mazinho Attah, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the truck, said the soldiers arrested the suspects through credible intelligence.

Capt. Attah added that the suspects were arrested by the troops at Akpaa Area in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence received, troops mobilised to the scene and effected the arrest of three suspects namely: Mr Darlington Ubochi, 25, from Ugwunagbo Local Government Area; Mr Chinedu Abara, 33, and Mr Julius Chinemem Godwin, 29, both from Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State. “The suspects were apprehended in possession of a Mack truck with registration number T 4477 LA, which was reportedly stolen on February 8, 2026 from Port Harcourt road Aba, and later parked at Opobo Junction.

“A preliminary investigation confirms that the vehicle had been declared stolen prior to its recovery.
