Confirming the development, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 14 Brigade, Muyiwa Ayara, said the operation was carried out in the early hours of Friday based on credible intelligence.
He explained that the Brigade Intelligence Regiment obtained the intelligence, which was carefully analysed before troops deployed on a deliberate clearance and fighting patrol into the forest.
According to him, the operation led to the successful detection and neutralisation of the explosives, preventing potential threats to lives and property in the area.
The military authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining clearance operations and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
"During the operation, four IEDs were discovered strategically placed at multiple locations within the forest.

"The devices were believed to have been planted as part of a coordinated effort to deny troops freedom of movement and protect suspected insurgent enclaves within the area.
"Accordingly, the 14 Brigade Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were immediately deployed to manage the threat.
"The IEDs were safely detonated in situ, while some components were carefully recovered and transported to a secure location for further technical analysis.
"This recovery will aid ongoing intelligence exploitation and provide insights into the operational methods of the insurgent group.
"Meanwhile, further operations are ongoing in the general area, as troops intensify efforts to detect additional threats, dismantle logistical networks, and degrade the operational capability of IPOB/ESN elements believed to be active within the forest and surrounding communities.
"Troops have reassured residents of their continued commitment to ensuring safety and maintaining freedom of movement across the area, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information.
"The success of the operation underscores the growing effectiveness of intelligence-led military actions in countering insurgency and restoring stability in the Southeast."
