At least two persons have been confirmed dead while several others sustained injuries in an accident involving multiple vehicles in Ibadan.

The accident occured at Soka Junction, Ibadan, around 10 pm on the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway on Saturday.
Spokesman of the state Police Command, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the accident was caused by a white HOWO truck with registration number Gombe GEM696XE, driven by one Abdullahi Bashiru.
He explained that the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to reckless driving and excessive speed, ramming into other vehicles and pedestrians.
“The Commissioner of Police Oyo State Police Command, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commiserates with the families of the deceased and prays for the quick recovery of the injured victims.

“The Command wishes to assure the public that a thorough investigation has commenced to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure that justice is served,’’ he added.
Also, the Command confirmed the arrest of two members of the Agbekoya group in connection with the killing of a commercial motorcycle rider, popularly known as Okada rider, during a clash in Ibadan on Saturday evening.
Olayinka stated that the incident occurred about 7pm and involved a confrontation between the Okada rider and members of the Agbekoya group.
According to the police, the victim, identified simply as Awo, lost his life during the altercation, which escalated into violence under circumstances that were still being investigated.
The command confirmed that two suspects linked to the Agbekoya group had been apprehended and assured that the situation had been brought under control.
The command also arrested a notorious kidnapper and recovered a firearm.
Olayinka e explained that three men, armed with AK-47 rifles and other weapons, were seen marauding around the forest and farmland in the Ikoyi-Ile before they were arrested.
