The United States Embassy in Nigeria has warned of a potential terrorist threat targeting American diplomatic facilities and US-affiliated schools in the country.

In a security alert issued on Tuesday, the mission advised United States citizens in Nigeria to exercise increased vigilance when visiting US diplomatic premises and institutions linked to the American government.

The warning comes amid heightened tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

According to the alert, the embassy urged American nationals to remain cautious around US government facilities and affiliated schools while monitoring security developments closely.

“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja informs U.S. citizens of a possible terrorist threat against U.S. facilities and U.S.-affiliated schools in Nigeria,” the advisory reads.

The mission also urged American nationals to take additional precautions when travelling to US diplomatic premises in the country.

“The Embassy recommends that U.S. citizens take additional precautions when traveling to the U.S. Embassy, the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, and U.S.-affiliated schools, to include varying times and routes,” the embassy said.

The embassy advised citizens to increase awareness of their surroundings and avoid predictable routines.
