Bodo/Glimt’s remarkable Champions League run gathered even more momentum on Tuesday night as the Norwegian side beat Inter Milan to move within touching distance of the last 16.

Despite still being in their off-season, Bodo overpowered the Serie A leaders after the break, adding Inter to a growing list of European heavyweights they have beaten in recent weeks, following victories over Manchester City and Atletico Madrid last month.

The hosts took the lead after 20 minutes on their artificial surface when Kasper Waarts Hogh produced a clever backheel into the path of Sondre Fet, who finished superbly.

Inter responded with a spell of pressure, with Matteo Darmian hitting the post and Nicolo Barella firing straight at goalkeeper Nikita Haikin. Their persistence eventually paid off when Carlos Augusto’s header from Barella’s cross was blocked, and the loose ball fell kindly for Francesco Pio Esposito, who turned and fired in the equaliser.

Inter then went close to taking control, with Lautaro Martinez also striking the post, while Yann Sommer was forced into action at the other end, tipping Hogh’s drive over the bar.

But Bodo regained the lead in devastating fashion on 61 minutes, breaking quickly and allowing Hogh to set up Jens Petter Hauge, who powered a left-footed strike into the top corner.

Inter were left stunned, and the home side capitalised again moments later when Ole Didrik Blomberg squared for Hogh to tap in Bodo’s third and complete a memorable night in the Arctic Circle.
