Efforts to deepen intra-African air connectivity have gained momentum as ValueJet Airlines finalises plans to commence operations on the Lagos–Accra route next week.

The airline’s Managing Director, Omololu Majekodunmi, disclosed this in an interview, describing the new service as a strategic move to strengthen seamless and affordable travel across West Africa.

He said the Accra route is central to ValueJet’s broader objective of improving regional mobility and providing passengers with more travel options within the continent.

According to him, the expansion follows the successful launch of the airline’s first international service to Banjul, The Gambia, and aligns with plans to extend operations to other regional hubs, including Cotonou and Malabo.

Majekodunmi expressed optimism about the development, noting that the inaugural Lagos–Accra flight is scheduled for March 30, 2026.

He said the new route would enhance connectivity between Nigeria and Ghana, while promoting tourism, trade, and stronger economic and cultural relations between both countries.

The ValueJet boss added that the airline remains committed to delivering quality service, urging travellers on the Nigeria–Ghana corridor to take advantage of its offerings.

He further stated that the Lagos–Accra–Lagos service is expected to simplify travel between the two countries and contribute to economic growth by facilitating business interactions and cross-border movement.

Majekodunmi also highlighted that passengers would benefit from promotional fares, exclusive deals, and tailored travel packages as the airline expands its regional footprint.

He noted that with the backing of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, the new service would deliver reliability and an efficient travel experience for passengers.

To support its expansion drive, the airline recently added CRJ-1000 aircraft to its fleet, aimed at strengthening both regional and domestic operations.

“All is now set for the launch of ValueJet’s Lagos–Accra–Lagos flights,” he said, reiterating that the March 30 inaugural service marks a key milestone in the airline’s regional growth strategy.
