The Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, Wemabod Limited, Mr Bashir Oladunni, has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to gender equity and inclusive leadership.

He spoke during an event by the company to commemorate the International Women’s Day with the theme: “Give to gain”.

Oladunni said the year’s theme is one of the core values centred on delivering exceptional customer-focuses in real estate services with integrity and professionalism.

He emphasised that creating opportunities for women is a social responsibility and a key driver of sustainable business success.

“International Women’s Day is an important moment to reflect on the progress made and the work that still lies ahead. At Wemabod, we remain committed to fostering an environment where everyone has the opportunity to grow, contribute and lead, ” he added.

He praised the workers, especially the women for showing respect, passion and time for projects despite the tasks at home.

“Empowering women in the workplace is not only the right thing to do, it also strengthens organisations, when women have equal access to opportunities, leadership pathways and professional development, businesses benefit from broader perspectives, stronger teams and better decision-making,” he added.

He noted that the company will continue to prioritise an inclusive workplace culture built on merit, fairness and equal opportunity.

The Chairperson of the Wemabod 2026 International Women’s Day Planning Committee, Mrs. Funke Salau, during her welcome address noted that the celebration provides an opportunity for employees, particularly women, to reflect on their progress while celebrating their strength, creativity and the support they continue to receive within the workplace.

She encouraged women to continue with their passion, ideas, lifting each other up and every other drive that push them, their workplaces and society forward. “We are the backbone of the society. Let us continue to support each other in marital life, future engagement and family affairs. Let’s stop bringing ourselves down for position or recognition sake. Support your fellow women in a positive way. She also mentioned that Given is a power, let’s continue to give and gain,” Mrs Salau, added.

The programme also featured a guest speaker, Rotary International District 9111 Governor (PDG) Mrs Omotunde Lawson, (FCAI) who delivered a paper titled “Developing the Next Generation of Impactful Female Leaders.” In her presentation, she outlined key actions necessary to advance women across organisations, communities and families.

According to her, promoting women’s advancement requires deliberate efforts such as showing respect to every woman regardless of status, recognising the value each woman brings to society, and providing donations, funding, sponsorship and visibility for women-led initiatives. She also emphasised the need to discourage selfishness while promoting knowledge-sharing, training, capacity building and access to adequate resources that enable women to thrive.

Mrs. Lawson further stressed the importance of creating platforms where women can raise their voices, gain exposure to opportunities, connect with mentors and role models, and access networks that support their growth. She added that empowering women remains one of the most strategic investments societies can make for sustainable development, economic growth and global stability, noting that women require confidence, mentorship, support and continuous learning to realise their full potential.
