In her heydays, Sisi Abba Folawiyo was a showstopper. A true fashion connoisseur, whenever she sauntered into any event, she stole the spotlight. With her background as a fashion icon, she loved to rock lovely outfits and lived the good life as a socialite par excellence. Now an octogenarian, she continued to attend events, aging with grace and allure. But the death of her only son, Segun Awolowo Jnr, took something away from her that nothing could replace. She was badly hit, and she is still living in disbelief that her only fruit has crossed over to the world beyond.

Like any mother deeply moved by the shocking demise of her child, Sisi Abba has stayed off the social scene. Many of her fans and friends have begun to ask why she has refused to appear at major public events, especially the 80th birthday celebration of her bosom friend, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa. According to those close to her, her sudden disappearance from the public eye is largely linked to the loss of her son. She is still mourning and prefers to stay indoors. Despite her age, she would still love to go out, but she has chosen to remain at home to honor her son’s memory.

“Sisi Abba is close to returning,” a source close to the family shared, “but she deliberately stayed away from the public to honor the death of her son. That’s the right thing to do. When you lose your only son, partying around is simply not appropriate. Even her friends understand the importance of this phase, and they have all been very supportive by calling and spending quality time with her. She is not missing going out because she has lots of good people around her, helping her heal from this loss. She should be back in the public glare soon.”
