A Badagry-born All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in the 2027 general election, Dr Samuel Ajose, has explained why governors are defecting to the ruling party.

Ajose, who is seeking the support of APC leaders in Badagry Division of Lagos State for his ambition, said: ‘’I hail President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for rolling out policies and development programmes across the country.

“We have seen what our President is doing through these massive developments and good policies.

“Governors and states are earning more money through their allocations. This is why many of the governors are defecting to APC.

“Everyone is seeing the good work President Tinubu is doing. This is why the governors are defecting to APC. President Tinubu is sure for 2027.”

The governorship aspirant, who spoke during an APC engagement with area coordinators in the 10 local governments and local council development areas in Badagry Division, noted: “We have come here to seek your support; we need your support to get there.

“It is your support that will make us rebuild our city. Nobody will come from outside and rebuild it for us.”

Ajose described Badagry Division as the future of Nigeria.

He said: “We are not being marginalised; we are waiting for our time. Now is our time to take over the state and by God’s grace, the Oracle will speak in our favour.’’

The meeting convened by Ajose brought together grassroots coordinators, party stakeholders and political leaders.

He said the aim of the meeting was to strengthen political structures ahead of the coming electoral cycle.

Ajose appealed to Badagry Division people to ensure they register in the ongoing APC e-registration, to enable the party win the 2027 general election.

Joseph Bamgbose, an APC apex leader in Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), said the meeting was to enable the governorship aspirant get familiar with APC leaders in the 10 councils in Badagry Division.

The Oniworo of Iworo Kingdom, Oba Oladele Kosoko (Ogundeyi), said the emergence of Ajose as APC governorship aspirant from Badagry was an opportunity for them.

He urged the people of Badagry to stay united and explore the opportunity.
