Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has explained why he dumped Labour Party (LP) for African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He said he was informed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would never recognise the LP leadership.
Obi contested the 2023 presidential candidate of the LP in 2023 under the umbrella of the LP.
The one-time governor was backing the Mrs. Esther Nenadi-Usman-led caretaker committee of the LP. Another faction, led by Mr. Julius Abure was jostling for the soul of the LP.

Obi spoke yesterday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state at the Obidient Conference and official declaration for the ADC in the state.
The theme of the conference was “Activating the PO Effect in.”
He said: “Democracy must work; I left LP when I got informed that as long as I remain in the party, INEC will not recognise its leadership, that the federal government don’t want me on ballot paper.
“ But I want to assure you that I will contest the coming election even if it holds in their bedroom and if they don’t want to transmit the results, we will transmit it for them”.
Obi, who assured that his administration will invest heavily in education and health sector if elected, appealed to Nigerians to put away their various differences and unite to rescue Nigeria during 2027 presidential elections.

He said the “Operation Rescue Nigeria” is not for him as an individual but for the collective destiny of future generations of Nigerians who will suffer the consequences of what he described as ‘bad governance’ going on in the country for decades.”
According to him, “Nigeria must get it right in 2027, election results must be transmitted online real time and whoever fails to transmit results will be transmitted.”
He spoke of plans by his administration to invest heavily in education and health sector if elected, even as he averred that most of the great countries across the world achieved greatness through intentional investment in education.
Obi added that he will do everything possible to pull people out of poverty as a way of reducing criminality.
Promising to rid Nigeria of corruption, Obi said that the menace will be reduced by 60 percent once a leader and his family has nothing to do with corruption.
He said: “When I became governor of Anambra State, I advised my wife to forget about Office of First Lady against advice because we were not elected together.
“I approved over 100 CofOs of government lands but have none to myself or family. If you find any, petition me to appropriate authority.”
Coordinator of ‘Obidient movement”, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, urged Nigerians to mobilise from every nook and cranny for the 2027 general election.
