Actor Olumide Oworu has explained his reasons for venturing into politics, citing the need for effective policymaking.

In a recent interview on Naija FM, Oworu said poor governance directly impacts his life, prompting him to step into the political arena.

He stated that he intends to be among those actively shaping the country’s future. He added that the advanced age of many current political leaders is also a consideration, as their policy decisions will significantly affect his generation.

“I decided to join politics because of how the country is going. I know how Nigeria was when I was younger, but now, things keep getting worse. And I want to start a family and raise my kids here.

“So, I have to make sure I try my best to be among the policymakers because whatever policy is enacted will ultimately affect me like every other common person.

“And also, most of the present crop of politicians are aging out, and whatever policy they are making today, my friends and I will be at the receiving end tomorrow,” he explained.

The actor contested for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat in 2023 under the Labour Party but lost to Desmond Elliott.
