Afrobeats star Davido has said he would rather see his children build careers within his father’s business empire than venture into the entertainment industry.

Speaking in an interview on The Breakfast Club, the singer said he encourages his children to consider joining the family’s corporate structure, citing the fulfilment his father derives from family life despite his wealth.

Davido noted that his father prioritises time with his grandchildren, often taking them on trips during the Christmas season, and finds greater satisfaction in those moments than in material possessions.

According to him, this perspective has shaped his own outlook on life and success.

He acknowledged that his father was initially hesitant about his decision to pursue a music career, but eventually allowed him to follow his path after recognising his determination.

Davido said he would not impose strict limitations on his own children, even as he leans toward guiding them toward more stable career paths.

He added that although one of his daughters has shown interest in singing and dancing, he still prefers that his children consider opportunities within the family’s business network.

Davido said, “Omo, go and work with my dad. Every Christmas, my dad takes all the grandkids with him. And I could just see that, among all the things he has, including multiple private jets and all that, his happiness is seeing his grandchildren.

“And my father is single. So I just saw his happiness, and I’m like, meh, this is like what life is all about. As much as my dad didn't really want me in the entertainment industry, he didn't overkill my dream; he saw that this boy is really adamant about doing this. I wouldn’t want to do that to my kids as well. My daughter is already singing and dancing".
