Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dr. Mudashiru Obasa, has hailed workers in Lagos and across Nigeria as the “true drivers” of the state’s economic success as the nation marks International Workers’ Day on May 1.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Dave Agboola, Obasa praised the resilience, dedication, and sacrifices of workers who sustain the economy and uphold the values of hard work and productivity. He said Lagos’ progress would not have been possible without the workforce’s steadfast commitment.

The Speaker also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recent welfare-driven policies, including salary increases, calling them timely interventions that show the President’s commitment to improving workers’ living standards.

“As we mark Workers’ Day, I salute the men and women whose labour remains the backbone of our society. Your contributions are invaluable, and your sacrifices inspire us to continue building a Lagos that thrives on fairness, innovation, and opportunity for all,” Obasa said.

He assured workers that the Lagos Assembly remains committed to laws and policies that protect their rights, enhance their welfare, and foster sustainable growth.

Obasa urged workers to stay steadfast and hopeful, noting that their efforts will continue to shape a brighter future for Lagos and Nigeria.

On behalf of the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Speaker wished all workers a Happy Workers’ Day.
