The Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, has called on the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to strengthen public awareness of government policies and programmes, particularly infrastructure initiatives under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He said the institute should make greater use of its platforms and institutional capacity to communicate ongoing projects, policy reforms and their impact on citizens.
Goronyo spoke on Thursday in Kaduna during the conferment of the fellowship of the institute on him, one of its highest honours, in recognition of his contributions to strategic communication, leadership and public service.

According to a statement yesterday by his Special Assistant (SA)on Media, Abdullahi Mohammed, the award reflects his role in promoting transparency, strengthening government–citizen engagement and advancing communication as a tool in infrastructure delivery.
The minister said effective communication remains central to governance and national development, noting that clear and timely information helps build public trust and supports implementation of government programmes.
In his acceptance remarks, he described the fellowship as a call to greater responsibility and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting professionalism and adherence to standards in the public relations sector.
He also stressed the need for ethical communication practices, saying they are essential for sustaining public confidence in institutions.
Other individuals were named as honorary fellows-designate across sectors including governance, security, education, traditional institutions and media.
