Yewa Peoples Council to honour ex-IG Egbetokun

Yewa Peoples Development Council, a pan socio-cultural development organisation and the umbrella body for all groups and associations in Yewa axis of Ogun State, under the auspices of Yewa Traditional Council, has concluded arrangements to honour a prominent Nigerian, who is an indigene of Yewa-Land, Olukayode Egbetokun, who retired recently as the Inspector General of Police after many years of meritorious service to the country.

A statement by the Chairman of Yewa Peoples Development Council, Prof. Rahamon Bello, said the civic reception was a token of appreciation of the people of Yewa-Land to an illustrious son, who was the 22nd indigenous Inspector General of Police and the first one to be so appointed from Ogun State.

The statement said His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa land, would lead Yewa Traditional Council to appreciate Egbetokun and his wife at the event to be held on Saturday at Yewa Frontier Hotel, Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa South Local Government.

Among the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the new Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, top military and police officers, captains of industry and top traditional rulers from across the country, among others.

Egbetokun retired recently, having served the nation in various capacities.

He became the IG on June 20, 2023 and voluntarily retired on February 24.
