A political support group, Yayi Grassroot Alliance (YGA), has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola for the 2027 presidential and Ogun State governorship elections.

The endorsement was made at a well-attended event at Ontech Event Centre, Abiola Way, Abeokuta, where stakeholders, political leaders and members of All Progressives Congress (APC) converged to declare support for the duo.

In his welcome address, Mr. Olumide Abiodun said the endorsement was driven by the group’s commitment to sustaining what he described as the “foundation for a greater Nigeria” laid by President Tinubu, as well as consolidating on the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun in Ogun State.

He described YGA as a coalition of young professionals drawn from diverse sectors, including education, technology, engineering and commerce, with membership spanning the 20 local government areas of Ogun State.

He noted that the group had played a significant role in political mobilisation, particularly during the recent Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

Chairman of the occasion and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, hailed the initiative, describing Tinubu and Adeola as “tested and trusted leaders” whose contributions to national development remain evident.

Hamzat urged members of the alliance not to relent in their mobilisation efforts ahead of future elections, saying the group had continued to demonstrate commitment through empowerment programmes targeted at vulnerable populations across the state.

Delivering his address, the State Coordinator of YGA, Prince Adedapo Oluwadamilare, said the endorsement marked a defining moment in the political evolution of Ogun State.

He described the alliance as a structured grassroots movement with operational presence at the state, local government and ward levels.

According to him, ‘’Senator Adeola possesses the competence, experience and capacity required to lead Ogun State, citing his legislative track record, fiscal expertise, and commitment to infrastructural development and youth empowerment.’’

“Ogun State requires a visionary leader who understands governance, public finance and policy implementation, who will further raise the bar laid down by the dexterous incumbent Governor, Prince Abiodun. In Senator Adeola, we see competence, courage and capacity,” he said.

Oluwadamilare lauded President Tinubu’s administration for what he termed bold economic reforms and improved fiscal management, noting that such policies had enhanced the ability of subnational governments to meet their obligations.

He said the endorsement represented a commitment by the alliance to mobilise support across communities and ensure electoral victory in 2027.

The event also featured goodwill messages from party stakeholders and government officials. Funmi Efuwape, who represented Senator Adeola and served as Mother of the Day, praised the leadership of the alliance for its mobilisation efforts, while urging members to remain steadfast ahead of the party primaries and general election.

Similarly, representatives of the Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, and  Commissioner for Women Affairs, Adijat Adeleye, commended the group and encouraged sustained commitment to the cause.

In his lecture titled: “From the Senate to Government House: A Critical Assessment of Senator Yayi’s Leadership Style and Governance Prospects for Ogun State,” Guest Speaker, Professor Emeritus Abosede Adebiyi, described Adeola as a prominent political figure, whose leadership style resonated with the grassroots.

The programme also featured empowerment initiatives and a raffle draw for participants, reflecting the group’s emphasis on grassroots engagement and inclusiveness.

The endorsement by YGA is seen by political observers as an early move to consolidate support structures ahead of the 2027 general election in Ogun State and across the country.
