The member representing Fika/Funa Federal Constituency of Yobe State in the House of Representatives, Hon Mohammed Buba Jajere, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jajere, who is also the deputy chairman, House Committee on Sports, said his decision was due to the internal crisis and division within the PDP which has remained unresolved.

His letter of defection was read by the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, during plenary on Tuesday.

It reads, "I write to formally notify you of my decision to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party and defection to the All Progressives Congress with immediate effect.

"This decision has been taken after extensive consultation with my constituents, political associates and family members after a very careful assessment of the current political landscape in view of the internal crisis and division within the PDP which has remained unresolved.

"I believe aligning with the APC will better position me to effectively serve the interests and aspirations of my Constituency and Yobe State in general.

"Kindly therefore accept this letter as my formal notice of defection in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria."
