Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has confirmed Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as the substantive Head of Civil Service, saying the move is a strategic step to stabilise the state's bureaucracy and drive reform efforts.

The confirmation, announced Wednesday, follows her acting appointment last month after Alhaji Abdullahi Musa's removal.

The announcement came as the government unveiled the sixth tranche of payments, clearing long-standing gratuities and death benefits for pensioners and families of deceased civil servants.

Maimota's confirmation is expected to inject fresh energy into the civil service system, the governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mustapha Muhammad, stated on Friday.

Governor Yusuf charged Maimota to leverage her decade-long experience to revamp the system, emphasising the need for a more responsive, efficient, and accountable public service.

He expressed optimism that her tenure would yield measurable improvements across state ministries, departments, and agencies.

Maimota's swift elevation underscores the administration's confidence in her leadership and ability to navigate complex civil service reform terrain, the statement further said.
