The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed Zamfara State governor Dauda Lawal and his teeming supporters into its fold.
A statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau, said the governor’s decision and resolve to join the ruling party is indeed a welcome initiative and a strong boost that will further solidify the bond of the people as a formidable indivisible entity.
“On behalf of the State APC leader, Bello Muhammad Matawalle and Minister of State for Defence and other party leaders, especially Senator Ahmad Rufai Sani, Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi and Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, party executives under the chairmanship of Tukur Umar Danfulani and other critical stakeholders, we heartily welcome the Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, with the assurance of full support and cooperation of APC members,’’ the statement said.
Idris further said the party has recognised the governor and his supporters as members who will continue to enjoy the privileges accorded party members.

“It is our prayer and belief that this development will uplift the unity of members of the party and boost the chances of the party in the upcoming 2027 general elections,’’ Yusuf added.
The party called on the party members at all levels to support the governor to ensure the success of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu’s renewed Hope Agenda
The party also reaffirmed that it remains confident that Zamfara will continue to benefit from the wise decisions that will bring unity of purpose towards more economic viability.
Also, the France Chapter of the APC has described the defection of Lawal as a significant political development that further strengthens the growing national coalition behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
In a statement, the Chairperson of the APC France Chapter, Hajiya Amina Suzuki, and released to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday the chapter commended the governor for taking the bold step to align with the ruling party.
Suzuki noted that the decision by Lawal to align with the APC was a reflection of the rising confidence of political leaders and citizens across the country in the reform-driven leadership of President Tinubu.

She maintained that the defection signals a major consolidation of political support in the strategic Northwest geopolitical zone, which has played a decisive role in determining the outcome of presidential elections in Nigeria.
“The Northwest remains one of the most influential voting blocs in Nigeria’s democratic process. With this significant political realignment in Zamfara, it is increasingly evident that President Tinubu’s leadership and policies are gaining widespread acceptance across the region,” the statement added.
The chapter further noted that the entry of the governor into the APC represents not just a personal political decision but a broader endorsement of the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by the Tinubu administration

“As members of the APC in the diaspora, we see this development as a clear indication that the Northwest is rallying behind President Tinubu. The people of the region understand the importance of stability, economic reforms, and national unity being pursued by this administration,” Suzuki said.
Suzuki announced that the governor would be honoured by the chapter as its Patron-Designate, in recognition of his leadership role and his decision to join the progressive family.
The chapter assured that members of the diaspora will continue to mobilize support, promote the achievements of the Tinubu administration globally, and work with stakeholders across Nigeria to consolidate democratic gains.
Suzuki urged political leaders and citizens across the country to continue to rally behind the APC-led government to sustain reforms, strengthen national security, and advance Nigeria’s economic recovery.
