The Zamfara State Government set up a committee to provide strategic guidance, technical support, and coordination for UNICEF- SBC interventions throughout the state.

The Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Technical Working Group (TWG) was inaugurated on April 2, 2026, during a cross-sectoral meeting held at Karma Guest Inn in Gusau.

This was announced in a statement released yesterday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Culture, Mohammed Salihu Anka.

The meeting was chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget & Planning, Sani Abubakar Bukkuyum, with the support of Mr Anka.

The Social and Behaviour Change Technical Working Group (TWG) was established to provide strategic guidance, technical support, and coordination for UNICEF-SBC interventions across relevant sectors in Zamfara State.

“It was designed to foster multi-sectoral collaboration and integration in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of SBC strategies that promote the adoption of positive behaviours and social norms at individual, community, institutional, and policy levels,” the statement said.

It added that, “The group will support interventions that address social norms, attitudes, beliefs, and structural barriers affecting access to essential services in health, nutrition, education, water, sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), child protection, and social protection.”
