Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, have arrested seven suspects linked to multiple murders, armed robbery, cultism, and illegal possession of firearms in parts of the state.

The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation by the Zonal Puff Adder team on March 3, which led to the capture of a prime suspect, Fawas Opeyemi Alarape, 23, also known as “Karube,” a statement by the spokesman, DSP Gbenga Afolayan, said Thursday.

He said the suspect's confession subsequently guided operatives to a criminal hideout on Adeleye Street, Orile Iganmu, popularly referred to as the “Lion’s Den”, where five other suspects were apprehended.

Those arrested at the hideout include Soliu Ahmed, 23; Oluwaseun Bolarinwa, 26; Bamidele Mustapha, 33; Abass Abideen, 22, and Salisu Ali, 24.

Another suspect, Atanda Lukmon, 30, was arrested at White Sand area of Orile Iganmu, the statement added.

Police, he said, recovered a locally made cut-to-size shotgun, four cutlasses, a knife, a claw hammer, four live cartridges, three expended cartridges, and assorted charms during the raid.

Investigations revealed that Alarape and his accomplices were allegedly involved in the killing of a tricyclist, Ikujowolo, at Shitta Under Bridge in Surulere after robbing him of his tricycle.

He reportedly carried out the attack with another suspect, Ahmed Oladele, alias “Small Messi,” who is at large.

The suspects also confessed to the murders of Olumide Adegbite, 40, on February 14, as well as Kehinde Shuaibu, 37, and Monday Okoro, 35, on February 18, all in the Orile Iganmu area.

DSP Afolayan said the suspects were in custody and assisting ongoing investigations, after which they will be charged to court.

Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, commended the operatives for their professionalism, reaffirming the command’s commitment to tackling violent crime across Lagos and Ogun states. He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support police operations.
