A total of 16 teams will jostle for glory at the 4th  Prince Taiwo Oyekan (PTO) Ramadan Golden Cup which will start tomorrow  at Dr Teslim Elias Primary School playing ground, Lagos Island.

‎The Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Lagos Island Local Government, Lateef Ogunfowora, stated this at a briefing, highlighting the activities for the tournament.

The grassroots competition, which was put together by the Eko Grassroots Sports Association, is sponsored by the Executive Chairman, Lagos Island Local Government, Hon. Prince Taiwo Oyekan.

The final and closing ceremony will hold  on March 23rd.

Ogunfowora said the tournament is aimed at giving the youths in the local government a platform to showcase their talents: "The tournament is being organised to curb social vices among youths in the local government. The Chairman Hon. Oyekan has been a great supporter of youths in the Lagos Island Local Government, which has shown in all he has been doing in terms of youth development, and sports in particular.”

 “ He is so passionate about football development in the local government. The tournament is a platform for the discovery of talents and provides a successful future engagement for them. It is majorly on how to motivate and encourage them to be successful in their choosing career.”

According to the organisers, apart from monetary reward for the participants, scouts will be on ground to identify top talents which is one of the major highlights  of the 4th  edition of the tournament.
