...back Abiodun's next political move

No fewer than 20 members of the 26-member Ogun State House of Assembly on Wednesday reaffirmed their endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027, citing his economic reforms and infrastructure drive as key justifications.

The lawmakers’ position follows an earlier endorsement of the President by the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, alongside party stakeholders and chieftains led by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The declaration was made at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Iweiroyin, Abeokuta, where the progressive bloc within the Assembly also endorsed the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and expressed support for Governor Abiodun’s future political aspirations after the expiration of his tenure.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Sherrif Yusuf, said the decision to back President Tinubu for a second term was anchored on what the lawmakers described as bold economic reforms and extensive infrastructural development recorded under the current administration.

Yusuf noted that the country has recorded significant progress in economic stabilisation, fiscal reforms, and road infrastructure connecting major economic corridors nationwide.

He said the achievements underscore the President’s commitment to repositioning the economy and strengthening national infrastructure, adding that continuity would help consolidate the gains already made.

“We, the progressive members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, comprising 20 honourable members, hereby declare our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to return for a second term in 2027, based on his bold economic reforms and massive infrastructural development across the country,” Yusuf stated.

"It is worthy of note that Mr President Tinubu's leadership, Nigeria has witnessed tremendous steps toward economic stabilization, fiscal reforms, and unprecedented Infrastructural development particularly road construction projects connecting major economic corridors nationwide.

"These achievements underscore Mr President's commitment to repositioning the nation's economy and strengthening national infrastructure, making him deserving of another term to consolidate on the gains already recorded."

Speaking further the minds of his colleagues, including former Speaker Kunle Oluomo representing Ife Constituency 1, the house Majority Leader said the lawmakers also unanimously endorsed Adeola’s governorship bid, describing him as a seasoned legislator with a track record of competence, diligence, and commitment to public welfare.

He highlighted the Ogun West Senator's contributions in the National Assembly, leadership roles in critical committees, and advocacy for developmental projects and empowerment initiatives within and beyond Ogun State.

He said, "We are also using this opportunity to declare our unalloyed support to the gubernatorial bid of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi). Senator as a seasoned legislator whose record in the National Assembly has consistently reflected competence, diligence, and a deep commitment to the welfare of the people.

"Senator Adeola's impactful legislative achievements, including his leadership roles in critical committees, his contributions to nation building, and his strong advocacy for developmental projects and empowerment initiatives across Ogun State and beyond.

"Senator YAYI's vast experience in lawmaking, oversight, and governance positions him as a capable leader who can further the "Igbega Ipinle Ogun" agenda."

Similarly, he expressed the lawmakers' strong support for Governor Abiodun’s future political aspirations, stating that his administrative experience and understanding of governance would remain valuable at higher levels of service.

He credited the governor with delivering significant developmental strides in Ogun State, adding that he is well-positioned to continue contributing to nation-building beyond his current office.

He reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging continued support for leaders whose vision aligns with the aspirations of the people of Ogun State and Nigeria.

Yusuf said, "We also want to expressly declare our support for the incumbent Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in his next political move after completing his tenure. We are the believe that his wealth of executive experience and deep understanding of governance would continue to be of immense value in whatever capacity he chooses to serve.

"Having successfully steered the affairs of Ogun State and delivered significant developmental strides, Governor Abiodun remains well positioned to continue contributing to governance and nation-building at higher levels.

"We therefore reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged to continue supporting leaders whose vision and track record align with the aspirations of the people of Ogun State and Nigeria."

Also speaking separately on behalf of their Senatorial Districts, Hon. Kunle Oluomo (Ogun Central),  Hon. Lola Bakare (Ogun East) and Hon. Musefiu Olatunji said that their people are in total  alignment with the position of the progressive lawmakers on President Tinubu, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and governor Dapo Abiodun.
