Imo State governorship hopeful, Dr. Chima Amadi, has cautioned against any alleged attempt to manipulate the 2027 electoral process, insisting that the will of the electorate must prevail at the polls.

Amadi issued the warning on Tuesday in Owerri during the inauguration of an enlarged structure of The Mazi Organization (TMO), comprising its Board of Trustees, Central Working Committee and Local Government Area Working Committees. The ceremony attracted participants from the 305 wards across the state’s 27 local government areas.

Addressing the gathering, the development advocate urged members of the newly constituted structure to regard themselves as ambassadors of the movement and to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

“This movement is not about one individual; it is about restoring confidence in governance and ensuring that the people’s votes truly count. Every ward, every community and every polling unit matters,” he said.

He tasked members to ensure that the group’s message reaches all parts of the state, urging peaceful mobilisation and responsible civic engagement.

Amadi, who hails from Ngor Okpala, dismissed insinuations in some quarters of an alleged plan by the All Progressives Congress to rig the 2027 governorship election. He warned that any attempt to undermine the democratic process could trigger public discontent.

“Democracy thrives on credibility. Any attempt to subvert the electoral process will not only weaken institutions but may generate avoidable tension. We must avoid actions capable of pushing citizens toward mass reaction,” he stated.

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure a free, fair and transparent exercise in 2027.

“INEC must rise to the occasion and resist any form of pressure. The umpire must remain impartial, transparent and courageous. The integrity of the 2027 process will shape public confidence in our democracy for years to come,” he added.

Reaffirming his political platform, Amadi urged supporters and other residents to align with the Action Peoples Party, which he described as the vehicle for his governorship ambition.

“The Action Peoples Party offers a credible alternative and a platform to rebuild, reform and reposition the state. I call on well-meaning citizens to join this journey,” he said.

The event featured the formal inauguration of TMO executives across its various tiers. The newly sworn-in leaders pledged commitment to the group’s objectives and promised to expand its grassroots reach.

Speaking on behalf of the executives, the Director General, Chief Henry Onwukwe, said the structure would prioritise grassroots engagement, voter education and disciplined mobilisation.

The inauguration marks a consolidation of Amadi’s political structure ahead of the 2027 contest, positioning TMO as a statewide network designed to strengthen support bases and enhance electoral preparedness.
