Former Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Prof Mohammed Sani Haruna is banking on experience to transform Nasarawa State.

He warned the people of the State not to make the mistake of electing someone with no understanding of the developmental pathway created by incumbent Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Haruna who is aspiring to succed Sule, spoke yesterday in Keffi during the 2026 Western zone symposium, organise by Nasarawa State Concerned Democrats in his honour.

According to him, he has equipped himself with the required experience and exposure first working as an engine mechanic to survive, starting as a technician, craftsman, technology, engineer, supervisor, assistant service manager, technical manager, adding that he did carpentry, painting and machinery to survive

He said: “I was opportune to be managing director of companies that we formed with some ambassadors, I work with three president of Nigeria from Yar’Adua, Jonathan and Muhammmadu Buhari as NASENI Chief executive and acquired a lot experience, I was a member of the National Economic Council for six years”

Haruna who is aspiring to be the next Governor of the state under the platform of the ruling APC, said the ongoing infrastructure development in the state is so there to our hearts and my slogan is “sustainability of Engr Abdullahi Sule industrialization drive , economic development and manufacturing economy, harnessing our God given resources amd adding value to them into products”

He noted, that is what Nasarawa State need to sustain in order to be a viable state that every citizen can appreciate, now we have a captain that is steering the sheep very well “he is an engineer, we should not make the mistake and have somebody as a new captain that cannot read the dash board.”

Haruna told the large gathering of youths and women for the zone who organized the symposium in his honour that in the course of working as NASENI Chief executive “I went to countries across the world to see their research, what they are doing right or wrong and I spend 13 years trying to get that right.

“For the privilege that God gave me by sending me to places to represent you, I can go low and have my peace, because I don’t like talking, I don’t like argument, I don’t like quarraring, I can recommend as I use to do to any one that come as Governor of Nasarawa State.

“You can do this, you that, if they do, if they don’t do, I will say, I have done my own, but I know, having gone through this rudiments, there is no State of the federation, I have not been to for the project of NASENI, African countries, all continents, I have seen countries that develop, those that are not developing and why they are not developing

“The states in Nigeria that even without revenue from the federal government, they can survive and still develop and pay their monthly dues and still progress, having acquired that experience, I thought I should share it with the people of Nasarawa State.

“It’s not because I’m looking for recognition, I’m an academician, I love academy and I can remain somewhere until I get novel prize award, because I have two PhDs and lectures in so many universities across the world” he said

He promised to build on the solid foundation laid by the incumbent governor, especially in areas of technological innovations, investment, water, agriculture, health , education among others if given the opportunity.

He advice his supporters to support whoever Governor Abdullahi Sule anointed even if he is not the one.

Guest Speaker at the event, and former clerk of the national Assembly, Dr. Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa said “Nasarawa State at the movement needs leaders who are honest, forward looking, intelligence, straightforward, broad-minded , dependable, courageous, logical and Prof Mohamed Sani Haruna is that kind of person and urged the people of the State to consider him as their next governor”.
