A support group for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, the Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN), has empowered 1,000 farmers in Ondo State through its Tinubu Farmers’ Support (TFS) Programme.
The initiative, sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, involved the distribution of agricultural inputs, including sprayers and rain boots, to farmers in rural communities across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Speaking at the exercise on Thursday, the group's Director General, Dayo Awude said the programme is part of the SGN’s broader grassroots interventions aimed at assisting the local farmers to boost food production and security in the state.
Awude said the latest empowerment for the farmers came following the earlier efforts of the Tinubu Free Fuel (TFF) scheme for commercial motorcyclists and tricycle operators, support for widows under the BTO Widows’ Mite, and the distribution of aprons to market women.
He explained that the initiative reflects Hon. Tunji-Ojo's commitment to grassroots development and support for local farmers, adding that the intervention programmes for the farmers also aligns with efforts to improve rural livelihoods.

Awude, however, urged more support for President Tinubu’s led administration, citing ongoing infrastructure projects, including the dualisation of key highways such as Akure-Ore, Akure-Ado-Ekiti, Ilesha-Akure-Benin, and the Lagos-Calabar coastal road.
He added that at the completion of the programme the 18 local government areas of the state underscores the group's expanding grassroots engagement and its role in delivering community-focused initiatives in support of the Tinubu administration.
Some of the beneficiaries described the intervention by the group as very timely, noting that the tools would ease farm operations, reduce manual stress, and enhance productivity.
