The Nigeria Para-Powerlifting Federation will host the Kingsley Iwodi Para-Powerlifting Open Championship from 1 to 3 May 2026 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Package B, Abuja.
Athletes and officials are expected to arrive on 30 April, with competition running across three days before departure on 4 May.
Among the headline attractions are world champions Folashade Oluwafemiayo and Esther Oyema. Oluwafemiayo, the reigning world champion in the +86kg category, was recently nominated to the Athletes' Representative Forum of the World Para Powerlifting Organisation (WPPO).

Oyema, who competes in the 55kg category, successfully defended her world title at the 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Cairo, Egypt. A three-time Commonwealth champion, she has also claimed gold at the Paralympic Games and Commonwealth Games since beginning her career in 2000.
Riluwan Idris and Ogundolie Tolulope are also expected to feature.
The federation described the championship as a platform for talent discovery, athlete development, and preparation for upcoming international competitions.
