Accion Microfinance Bank (MfB), has called for digital inclusion, financial literacy, and leadership that would equip women with practical insights to thrive in an evolving digital economy.

The bank collaborated with GirlLearn Africa, to host its International Women’s Day Digital Conference in Lagos. The conference, with the theme: “Driving Women’s Digital & Financial Empowerment,” brought together industry leaders, professionals, and customers for a day of learning, inspiration, and engagement.

The event was attended by key stakeholders including Mr. Taiwo Joda (Managing Director/CEO of Accion MfB), Mr. Stephen Olalere (Chief Commercial Officer, Accion MfBank), Yewande Faleyimu (Regional Bank Head, Lagos, Accion MfB), Treasure Ernest (Founder, SalesVille Africa), and Ajiri Okoribe (Founder, GirlLearn Africa), alongside other distinguished participants. The event was anchored by Yewande Faleyimu.

Providing leadership insights, Taiwo Joda spoke on “Driving Impact Through Visionary Leadership,” underscoring the importance of collaboration and intentional leadership in driving sustainable impact.

“True leadership is not a one-man effort; it is driven by collective contribution across teams and genders. Empowering others, sharing knowledge, and building capable teams are critical to sustaining growth and creating long-term value,” he stated.

He also emphasized the need for individuals, particularly women in leadership, to foster environments where knowledge is shared and others are empowered to grow and take initiative.

Speaking at the event, Stephen Olalere delivered a session on “Spotlight on Financial Products that Empower Women to Manage, Grow, and Invest Their Finances Effectively,” highlighting the Bank’s commitment to empowering women through sustainable financial services and strategic partnerships.

“At Accion Microfinance Bank, our mission is centered on empowering micro-entrepreneurs by providing accessible and ethical financial services. We have seen firsthand the transformative impact of this support, particularly among women, who continue to drive growth within their families, businesses, and communities,” he said.

He further emphasized the importance of digital adoption, noting that the evolving financial landscape requires individuals and businesses to embrace digital channels to remain relevant and competitive.

In her keynote session, Treasure Ernest spoke on “The Digital Woman: Thriving in a Tech-Driven World,” focusing on navigating technology, building digital skills, and positioning for growth in the digital era.

“The capacity to grow and succeed already exists within you. The key is to feed your mind with the right knowledge and take action. When you begin to apply what you learn, you unlock new opportunities and transform your reality,” she said.

Also speaking at the event, Ajiri Okoribe, Founder of GirlLearn Africa, delivered a session titled “What Next? Unleashing Your Potential,” inspiring women to take actionable steps towards achieving their personal and professional goals.

“The next step in your journey requires clarity, courage, and action. You cannot remain where you are and expect different results. When women begin to take intentional steps toward their goals, they unlock opportunities that transform not just their lives, but the lives of others,” she noted.

The conference featured engaging keynote sessions, practical discussions, and interactive segments that allowed participants to gain valuable knowledge, ask questions, and connect with like-minded individuals.

The initiative reflects the shared commitment of Accion Microfinance Bank and GirlLearn Africa to advancing women’s participation in the digital economy while promoting financial inclusion and sustainable growth.
