...commissions road, health projects in Akoko, Owo

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed that road construction and rehabilitation remain central to his administration’s development blueprint as he marks one year in office.

Aiyedatiwa stated this in Friday while commissioning the Aiyegunle-Iwaro Oka road in Oka-Akoko.

The governor described the various road projects constructed by his administration in the last one year, as remarkable achievements within a short period, noting that his government has completed numerous impactful projects across the state.

He said the approximately six-kilometre Aiyegunle-Iwaro road was executed with durable materials to withstand heavy traffic, including articulated vehicles, stressing that the corridor is a strategic transportation link for the Akoko axis.

According to him, the road is vital for the movement of agricultural produce within and beyond the state.

"With the rich agricultural potential of Akokoland, improving this corridor became imperative to ensure farm produce reaches markets promptly and retains its value," he said.

Aiyedatiwa also recalled that the dualisation of the Akungba-Ikare Road, flagged off last year, forms part of broader infrastructural expansion in the axis and would be completed within schedule.

Earlier, the traditional ruler of the community, the Olubaka of Oka, Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, lauded the governor for completing a project that several administrations could not finish.

Oba Adeleye noted that the road was originally initiated by late former governor Olusegun Agagu, but left undone until now.

In a related development, the governor commissioned Opomulero and Isuada roads in a triple ceremony, describing the projects as symbols of renewed hope and steady progress.

Aiyedatiwa said the road, spanning about 3.5 kilometres, include the construction and rehabilitation of Falodun, Kajola and Iselu-Isuada roads, adding that the roads would improve connectivity, stimulating commerce and reducing travel time within the town.

He explained that years of dilapidation had constrained productivity and imposed hardship on residents, adding that the new roads would enhance economic activities and ease movement.

While eeiterating his commitment to inclusive governance, Aiyedatiwa pledged that no community would be left behind, noting that development efforts are guided by fairness, equity and shared prosperity under his our ease policy thrust, with gains recorded in roads, education, agriculture, healthcare and commerce.

Speaking through his deputy, Olayide Adelami, the governor also commissioned an upgraded Primary Health Care facility and newly built staff quarters in the council area, describing the intervention as a major step toward equitable healthcare delivery.

He, however, disclosed that 112 PHCs across the state are undergoing structured upgrades, with 51 already completed, adding that healthcare must be accessible, affordable, and continuous.
