The Apapa Local Government has disbursed the second phase of its cash palliative for residents, with each beneficiary receiving N100,000.

The Chairman, Idowu Senbanjo, stated this during the rollout of the Apapa Constituency Residence Palliative Economic Generic Data (ACREPEGED)  held at the Council’s Secretariat.

Senbanjo explained that the initiative was designed to support about 4,000 residents across phases, noting that the current phase has already reached 600 beneficiaries.

She said the initiative was part of the council’s commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and grassroots development.

“Our goal is to support grassroots communities by helping people sustain their businesses and livelihoods, while easing economic challenges,” she said.

She added that participation was open to all and not influenced by political affiliation.

“I cannot guarantee that we will reach every resident. However, the approach we have adopted is simple, if you are interested in benefiting from this programme, you should come forward yourself. This is not about favoritism, group affiliation, or party politics. If you are a Nigerian, you are part of this initiative,” she said.

Senbanjo also linked the intervention to broader Federal Government support, stating that the programme would continue as long as such backing is sustained.

“As long as Mr. President continues to provide the subsidy, we will keep finding ways to ensure the benefits reach people,” she said.

She thanked Lagos State Government for its continued support of local welfare programmes.

The Head of Exceptional Logistics Nigeria Limited and Coordinator of the initiative, Moses Oyekunle, said that applicants must be registered voters with valid voter’s cards and residents of Lagos State, regardless of political affiliation.

Oyekunle while commending the council chairman for delivering on her promises, noted that such commitment is uncommon among public officials.

“This Apapa local government chairperson has demonstrated transparency and commitment, which is why this initiative is possible,” he said.

He also urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to improve their economic conditions.
