A House of Assembly aspirant hopeful and stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Hon. Adeola Taoheed Musa, has sponsored the training of 26 youths as football referees in Owo Local Government Area, in a bid to create career opportunities and promote youth development.

Musa, popularly known as ATM, who is seeking election to represent Owo Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly, said the initiative reflects his commitment to empowering young people with skills that can generate sustainable livelihoods.

He explained that the initiative, organised in collaboration with the Owo Zonal Football Council, was aimed at equipping participants with both the technical knowledge and practical experience required to officiate football matches at local and state levels.

According to Musa, at the conclusion of the training, the beneficiaries are expected to receive certification enabling them to officiate matches professionally.

Speaking on the initiative, Musa said his decision to represent his constituents of Owo was is centered on people first, adding that meaningful development begins with empowering youths with skills and opportunities that can transform their lives.

He stressed that the referees’ training programme is designed to open doors for them, create income opportunities, and reduce unemployment and social challenges in the community as well as promote grassroots sporting activities. 

The aspirants added that initiative would not only support the participants in their personal development and education but would also serve as a platform for advancing grassroots sports in Owo.

Musa reaffirmed his aspiration to provide a new voice in the State House of Assembly that prioritises youth development, sports advancement, and community progress.

While lauding Musa’s initiative to boost the moral of the youths, Stakeholders in the local sports community have praised the programme, describing it as a practical step toward nurturing young talent and strengthening sports at the grassroots level in Owo Local Government Area.
