Senator Diket Plang, representing Plateau Central in the Nigerian Senate, has been assigned major responsibilities at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention.

He was appointed Vice Chairman II of the Committee on Accreditation of Diplomats, Diaspora and Observers, and also named a member of the Transport Committee.

The appointments are seen as a strong vote of confidence in Plang’s track record in public service, leadership credentials, and commitment to national development. Regarded as a bridge-builder with a reputation for integrity, he has earned respect across political and social divides for prioritising the national interest.

In the Senate, Plang currently chairs the Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity, where he has driven initiatives aimed at job creation, protection of workers’ rights, and improved productivity. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Federal Character Committee, promoting equity and fairness in appointments and resource distribution nationwide.

The Committee on Accreditation of Diplomats, Diaspora and Observers, chaired by Peter Mbah, plays a central role in managing Nigeria’s diplomatic presence at the convention. Its responsibilities include coordinating invitations, protocol, receptions, seating arrangements, and the movement of dignitaries. As Vice Chairman II, Plang is positioned at the core of these engagements, helping to ensure that Nigeria’s interactions with international stakeholders meet global standards.

His inclusion in the Transport Committee further highlights his strategic role, as the body is tasked with coordinating the movement of delegates, diplomats, diaspora representatives, journalists, and observers to Eagle Square, the venue of the convention.

The appointments underscore Plang’s capacity to deliver in critical national assignments, with expectations that his contributions will support seamless organisation of the convention, strengthen diaspora engagement, and reinforce Nigeria’s diplomatic image.

For Plateau Central, the APC, and the country, the development marks a notable recognition of Plang’s sustained commitment to service, equity, and excellence.
