...timeline for other activities stands

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a 48-hour extension for the sale of expression of Interest and nomination forms for the 2027 general elections.

The exercise, which was slated to conclude on Saturday, May 2, will now run until Monday evening, May 4, 2026. Consequently, the deadline for the submission of completed forms has been moved from Saturday to Tuesday, May 5.

Addressing journalists on Thursday at the party’s national secretariat, the deputy national publicity secretary, Duro Meseko, explained that the adjustment was necessitated by the nationwide public holiday scheduled for Friday.

“The NWC met and we took some decisions. I wish to announce that the sales of nominations forms which should have ended on Saturday have now been extended till midnight of Monday, May 4, 2026,” Meseko stated.

He further clarified that the decision, reached during the 187th meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC), aimed to ensure no aspirant is disenfranchised due to the holiday break.

“As you all know there is a public holiday on Friday and we have been getting calls from all the states, so that is the major reason we are shifting the date so as to give room to all members willing to obtain nomination forms,” he added.

While the entry deadlines have shifted, the party maintained that the core screening timeline remains largely unchanged to ensure the primary process stays on track.

The APC confirmed that the high-stakes primary elections will kick off in mid-May. The schedule remains as follows, with the shadow election of House of Representatives fixed for  May 15, the Senate primary will hold on May 18 while the State Houses of Assembly election is billed  for May 20 and the Governorship primary comes up on May 21.

The climax of the primaries to elect the party’s standard bearer (Presidential candidate) holds on  Saturday May 23.

Post-primary appeals are expected to be conducted between May 18 and May 25, depending on the specific elective office. The party urged all aspirants to take advantage of the window to finalize their documentation.
