A governorship aspirant in All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Femi Sanni, aka Araba, has condemned the attack on Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state by suspected bandits.

He described it as a painful reminder of the urgent need to overhaul Nigeria’s security architecture.

Araba, whose interventions in public discourse are drawing attention across the state, sympathised with the affected families, saying the recurring violence in vulnerable communities was tragic and unacceptable.

He said no community in Kwara State should be left to live under the constant threat of violence and fear, stressing that the protection of lives and property must remain the responsibility of the government.

Acknowledging that insecurity has become a global challenge, the APC governorship hopeful said Nigeria must adopt localised, proactive and people-driven solutions to confront the threat.

He said attacks on rural communities underscored the limitations of the current centralised policing structure, and called on the Federal Government and the National Assembly to fast-track the legal and constitutional framework for the establishment of state police.

He described it as a critical and long-overdue reform necessary for effective grassroots security.

According to him, empowering states with policing authority will enhance intelligence gathering, response time and accountability in dealing with threats.

Araba urged security agencies to intensify intelligence-driven operations across vulnerable areas and deepen collaboration with vigilance groups, who often serve as first responders in rural communities.

He said strengthening such partnerships would bridge security gaps and restore confidence among residents.

Araba joined Nigerians in marking the 2026 National Police Day, commending the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and officers of Nigeria Police Force for their dedication and sacrifices in maintaining law and order across the country.

He described the theme, “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” as timely and essential for sustainable security.

He said effective policing must be anchored on trust, professionalism and respect for human rights, adding that the ongoing reforms under the current police leadership reflected a growing commitment to accountability and improved service delivery.

Araba noted that security could not be left to the police alone, urging citizens, the private sector and political leaders to play roles in building safer communities.

He enjoined the Federal Government to improve welfare packages for serving and retired police personnel, noting that a motivated and well-equipped police force remains critical to national stability and development.
