The All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader for Lagos State, Alhaja Rofiat Iyabosola Eletu, has sought for empowerment of women at the grassroots.

She stated this during  a visit to the wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu at the State House, Alisa.

She reaffirmed the commitment of Lagos women to the current administration’s developmental programs.

Alhaja Eletu, expressed deep appreciation for the First Lady’s ongoing initiatives and pledged the support of the party’s female wing across all senatorial districts.

She called for urgent empowerment programmes for women at the local government level.

She noted that many women leaders face economic challenges that hinder their ability to serve effectively within their communities.

“Many of our women leaders currently lack specific businesses or employment. We know the First Lady is already doing a lot, but we are requesting more support during this tenure to ensure these women have the means to sustain themselves and their families.

“Empowerment is essential and very important,” she stated.

A key highlight of the meeting was the Women Leader’s appeal for more direct interaction between the First Lady and the Local Government Area (LGA) women leaders.

She noted that previous attempts to facilitate such visits over the last five years had been unsuccessful due to demanding state schedules.

“I would be pleased if you can allow the LGA women leaders, once fully in place, to pay a courtesy visit to you,” she appealed.

She noted that t is important for them to connect with the Mother of the State to feel inspired and included in the vision for a greater Lagos.

She urged the First Lady to continue her role as a passionate leader for the women of the state, emphasizing that an idle hand is a devil’s workshop and that economic engagement remains the best tool for social stability.
