Ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Uba Sani as Chairman of its National Campaign Council.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed the election for June 20, 2026.
Sani’s appointment, announced over the weekend, underscores the party’s resolve to deploy top political figures to secure victory in the state.

The decision was conveyed in a letter dated April 24, 2026, and signed by the APC National Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.
According to the party, Sani was chosen based on his record in political mobilisation and governance in Kaduna State, expressing confidence that his leadership would strengthen its chances in Ekiti.
“This appointment is in recognition of your distinguished leadership, vast political experience, and unwavering commitment to the success of our party in this critical election,” Basiru stated.

Details of the flag-off indicate that the rally, scheduled for April 27, 2026, will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in the state capital.
A source in the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja said Sani would oversee mobilisation, media strategy, and grassroots engagement across the 16 local government areas of the state.
“The primary task of the Uba Sani-led Campaign Council will be to unify various interest groups within the state chapter and present a formidable front against the opposition,” the source said.
Another party official noted that the objective is to secure victory for the APC candidate, Abiodun Oyebanji, in the election.
“The National Working Committee has confidence in Governor Uba Sani’s ability to build bridges and win tough contests,” the source added.
Earlier in March, the state chapter inaugurated a 57-member Ekiti State Governorship Election Campaign Council chaired by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
The council includes key stakeholders such as Dele Alake, former deputy governors, serving and former National Assembly members, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and representatives of party groups, youth and student bodies, as well as local government party chairmen.
