The Convener of Arewa Think Tank, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts to transform Nigeria's sports sector.
In a statement, Yakubu praised the President's commitment to addressing the long-standing challenges facing Nigerian sports, including bureaucratic delays, fragmented funding, and inadequate infrastructure.
According to the statement, "President Tinubu's administration is determined to break the pattern of poor planning and underinvestment that has hindered Nigerian sports for decades.

"The proposed overhaul of the sports funding framework is a welcome development, and we applaud the President's directive to ensure timely and predictable funding for sports infrastructure and programmes." Yakubu said.

Yakubu also hailed the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, for his commitment to sports development in the country, saying his efforts have contributed significantly to the President's achievements in this area.
"Nigerian athletes have shown remarkable resilience and talent despite the challenges they face," Yakubu said. "We are confident that with the right support and investment, they will continue to excel on the international stage."
The Arewa Think Tank Convener noted that the President's Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria's Sports Economy (RHINSE) is a step in the right direction, aiming to position sports as a driver of job creation, tourism, and investment.
"We commend President Tinubu's vision for Nigerian sports and look forward to seeing the positive impact of these reforms on our athletes and the sector as a whole," Yakubu said.
